Reports to: Director of International Relations of the Universidad Mayor and REAC – Regional Educational Advising Coordinator. Liaises with the U.S. Embassy in Chile – Public Affairs.

The EducationUSA Chile Adviser Coordinator supports the network of EducationUSA Advising Centers (EACs) throughout Chile by promoting U.S. higher education to foster bilateral student mobility and advance the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs’ (ECA) public diplomacy efforts. The position is based in Santiago and supports the Regional Educational Advising Coordinator (REAC)`s work with the network of advising offices and with the Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy in Chile. The employee reports to the Regional Educational Advising Coordinator for Southern Cone.

The Adviser Coordinator is responsible for:

• Supporting outreach and advising activities at EducationUSA advising centers throughout Chile.

• Developing and monitoring the country strategic plan and budget in coordination with REAC and EducationUSA advisers throughout Chile.

• Managing multiple grants and office funds, as well as developing income generating activities to support educational advising.

• Liaising with the Chilean education community to promote U.S. higher education and EducationUSA advising services.

• Supporting U.S. HEI’s for successful recruitment and admission of Chilean students; providing information about changes in the local educational system which may influence student mobility.

• Organizing EducationUSA Fairs- coordinating with venues, U.S. HEIs, local institutions, and U.S. Embassy.

• Coordinating virtual and social media presence of EducationUSA in Chile.

• Managing the Santiago office inside Universidad Mayor

• Other duties as established by the REAC.

Education, experience, and skills required:

• Bachelor’s degree required, and experience with the educational systems in the U.S. and Chile. Master’s degree preferred.

• Three years of professional experience. Preferred fields are international education, program management, international relations or another closely related field.

• Two years of supervisory and training experience.

• Knowledge of both U.S. and Chilean cultures with experience of living, working, or studying in the United States and Chile.

• Proven ability to forge connections and work cooperatively with partners and stakeholders from various sectors.

• Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.

• Strong interpersonal communication, analytical, written, and oral presentation skills. These skills will be assessed through assessed through focus group interviews where candidates go through real life case studies.

• Strong organizational, problem solving, and time management skills.

• Fluency in spoken and written English and Spanish. Language skills will be assessed through the interviews using the CEFR reference scale.

• Valid work permit to work in Chile.
